In Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A), the number of international students for the one year course of PGPX (Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives) has doubled this year in comparison to the previous year. Last year, the institute had 6 foreign students, which has now increased to 12 students this year. There are total 85 students in the program among whom 12 are foreign students. The number of female students has also doubled this year.
On April 7, 2013, the eighth batch of IIM-A’ PGPX (2013-14) was inaugurated. The average age of the students in this new batch is 34 years with an average work experience of 10 years and 2 months and an average GMAT score of 711. The batch has also an average international work experience of 3 years.
Last year, the batch contained six female students, which has increased to 11 female students this year. 76 among 85 hold international exposure either through work or studies, while 24 are foreign residents of about 10 countries across the world. 37 students from the batch have higher qualification such as Professional/Masters than a bachelor degree whereas, 16 have international degrees. 68 students - about 80% of the batch constitute of engineers. As per the release issued by IIM-A, there are 21 graduates from IIT/NIT.
The students hold work experience in different sectors such as, education, BPO, defense, travel, airline, energy and power, financial services, hospitality services, healthcare, IT and IT services, management consultancy, infrastructure, manufacturing process, manufacturing engineering, media, NGOs, retail, shipping and telecom. Almost 29 students have work experience in IT sector.
