On Saturday, April 6, 2013, the IIM-K (Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode) held its induction ceremony in Kochi campus for their first batch of EPGP (Executive Post Graduate Program). For the 2 year program being offered in the academic session of 2013-2015, a total of 117 students were inducted including 18 female students.
Students with an average age of 30 years are selected by the institute. The average work experience of the selected students is 7.5 years with a minimum experience of two years. Though the class majorly consists of engineers, students from other disciplines have also joined this program.
Among all the IIMs in the country, only IIM-K offers internationally accredited executive management education program. During the induction process, the students were given a brief idea on different pedagogies and approaches of learning and teaching both. The rigorous program is expected to help the participants leap to the next hierarchy level easily.
An extension for the main Kozhikode campus, Kochi campus will meet the requirements of the working executives in upcoming metros such as Coimbatore, Trivandrum and Kochi. The part-time EPGP 2-years course is the first program with content comparable to regular PGP course and 900 contact hours to be offered from Kochi campus.
Graduates with minimum 2 years of experience in managerial/ supervisory/ administrative or technical roles including manufacturing, services, Government, KPO/BPO and any other organized sector only can join this program. The selection of candidates was completely based on the performance in EMAT (Executive Management Aptitude Test), work experience, graduation marks and performance in personal interview.
While selection, IIM-K took into accounts all the factors such as meritocracy, gender diversity, environmental consciousness and social sensitivity.
The program has two batches- one in the evening and the other in the weekend. The weekend batch started on Sunday, April 7 and the evening batch started on Monday, April 8.
