The southern state of Karnataka is leading the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination Class XII Results this year with a pass rate of 98.38%. The Results were declared by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Saturday, May 17, 2014. The state’s pass rate is significantly higher than the national pass rate of 95.27%, which is up from last year’s 95.15%.
Altogether 1,360 candidates from 26 schools of Karnataka appeared for the examination, all of whom cleared it except for 22 candidates. The state joint-toppers have achieved 98.25%. The pass rate of girl students of Karnataka this year is 98.76% and that of boys is 98.05%.
A total of 68,723 students from 868 schools in India appeared for the the ISC Class XII examination 2014. Girl students outshone boys with a pass rate of 96.58%. The pass rate of boys is 94.18% this year.
This year, the southern region of the country consisting of the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh have acquired the best pass rate of 98.32% among all the four regions of India.
The all-India top scorer is from Jamshedpur, whose score is 99.25%. The second position has been acquired jointly by students from Lucknow and Kanpur, who have secured 99%. The topper is determined after the scores of English as well as three other subjects are counted.
This year, 20,404 candidates from 201 schools in West Bengal appeared for the examination and the pass rate is 95.04%. Girl students have outshone boys in terms of pass percentage. Maharashtra’s pass rate is 96.86%, which is around 0.43% lesser than 2013. Candidates from 34 schools of Maharashtra appeared for the ISC Class XII examination. In Delhi/NCR, 1,080 students from 18 CISCE-affiliated schools took the examination. The overall pass rate of the region is 97.41%. Two joint toppers from the region acquired 98.25%.
Initially the students had to face a harrowing time accessing their Results due to technical glitches relating to the website www.careers.cisce.org. Around 6 pm the council uploaded the Results on a different link - www.cisce.org/results. However, this site could only be accessed by candidates and not by schools.
Around 70,000 candidates, including over 500 from the state of Tamil Nadu, appeared for the ISC Class XII board examinations this year, which was held from Monday, February 10 to Friday, April 11, 2014. The history examination was rescheduled due to polls. Last year’s Results were announced on Friday, May 17, 2013 and the pass percentage was 95.15%.
The Results of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination is expected to be declared by the CISCE at 3 pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. The ISC examination for Class XII and ICSE examination for Class X are conducted by the CISCE.
