Indian Institute of Carpet Technology popularly known as IICT is only
of its kind in Asia, has been set up by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of
India to provide much needed support to Textile, Carpet and allied
Industries. The idea of setting of a National level institute in a
place like Bhadohi has been a great step. It is expected that long
pending demand of Industries in terms of providing qualified
technocrats to them, will be fulfilled through launching of B. Tech.
Course in Carpet and Textile Technology. Therefore, it is obvious that
technologist to be produced by IICT will be well received.
IICT has been established with the mission to mould the future of Indian Carpet and allied Textile Industry through Human Resources Development. The main objects of the Institute is established primarily to promote, aid and foster, directly or indirectly, the development of carpets, floor covering and textiles in India, and of the artisans and people engaged in or connected with the carpet, floor covering and textiles industry by strategically planning, introducing and executing various programmes aimed to enhance the quality and competitiveness of Indian Institute of Carpet Technology, Bhadohi carpets, floor covering and textiles industry.
