Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere was established during the academic year 1979 - 80 with the initiative and foresight of memebers of Bapuji Educational Association on approval from govt. of Karnataka and is duly affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

The institute is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. At present the institute offers 12 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate programs in Engineering and Management. 13 departments have been recognized as research centers and 12 departments have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi with effect from 19-07-2008.

National River Conservation Directorate under the Ministry of Environment and forest, Govt. of India has recognized this institute as "Reputed Scientific Institute". A campus with modern infrastructure spread over 61.5 acres provides an excellent environment for learning and other developmental activities.

Campus:-

The BIET campus is spread over 69 acres and offers 12 courses accommodated in 5 separate buildings. Has the separate canteen facility for students. The campus has separate play grounds for cricket, foot ball and other out door games. There is a separate indoor sports facility for both girls and boys. Recently on the occasion of silver jubilee of the institution The Silver Line alumni guest house was inaugurated.
