The International Institute of Information Technology(IIIT-H), Hyderabad
is an autonomous university founded in 1998. It was set up as a
not-for-proft public private partnership (NPPP) and is the frst IIIT to
be set up (under this model) in India. The Government of Andhra Pradesh
lent support to the institute by grant of land and buildings. A
Governing Council consisting of eminent people from academia, industry
and government presides over the governance of the institution.
IIIT-H was set up as a research university focused on the core areas of Information Technology, such as Computer Science, Electronics and Communications, and their applications in other domains. The institute evolved strong research programmes in a host of areas, with computation or IT providing the connecting thread, and with an emphasis on the development of technology and applications, which can be transferred for use to industry and society. This required carrying out basic research that can be used to solve real life problems. As a result, a synergistic relationship has come to exist at the Institute between basic and applied research. Faculty carries out a number of academic industrial projects, and a few companies have been incubated based on the research done at the Institute. Facilities :-

B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering The CSE curriculum of the Institute is designed to meet the requirements of industry and research. Students are given a breadth of knowledge in CSE including electronics and hardware. Computer Science courses are introduced in the early semesters and non-IT breadth courses are offered at a later stage. This allows student to master the topic and to do project work starting from the second year itself. Specially designed IT Workshop courses empower the students with the latest software technologies by third semester B. Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering An integral part of the Information Technology is Electronics and Communications. Keeping this in mind, our undergraduate programme in ECE is closely related to CSE. They share a large number of core and elective courses. Today's hardware engineers have to understand not just circuits but also programming. Electronic systems of today combine circuits with programming. The integrated training given at the Institute prepares the students for the emerging challenges of tomorrow. Emphasis is on doing real hardware projects starting early in the programme. Students build hardware units and systems, along with learning the theoretical basis behind it.
