What is MAT May 2017?

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a knowledge-based test with an objective type test pattern that examines general aptitude across varied parameters. AIMA MAT is an all India level entrance exam held for acquiring seats in management programs in several participating institutes across India. Every year, All India Management Association (AIMA) holds the MAT entrance examination. The paper based test is being conducted on the first Sunday of the February, May, September and December from 1000-1230 hours.

The MAT May paper based test will be held on Sunday, May 07, 2017 and computer based test will be conducted from Saturday, May 13, 2017 onwards.

MAT is usually conducted 4 times in a year in February, May, September and December. The minimum qualification for appearing in MAT is graduation in any discipline from any recognized University or equivalent recognized degree. A final year student in any undergraduate (i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc) can also appear provisionally.

MAT is conducted in all major cities in the country and in leading cities abroad. Validity of the MAT score is for that particular session for most MI’s is one year. The score card is put on the AIMA website during last week of the month of the test.

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programs. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT aptitude test as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT exam scores as an admission input based on the score cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT exam will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across India. The MAT May paper based test will be held on Sunday, May 07, 2017 and computer based test will be conducted from Saturday, May 13, 2017 onwards

Eligibility Criteria for MAT May 2017:

  • The minimum qualification for appearing in MAT entrance exam is graduation in any discipline from any recognized university or equivalent recognized degree.
  • A final year student in any undergraduate (i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com, B.Tech, etc) can also appear provisionally.
  • Usually, there is a minimum percentage requirement in graduation, which is different for different MIs/university.
  • There is no age bar. Job experience is not necessary.

How to Apply for MAT May 2017?

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) to assess the potential of candidates willing to take up management programs. MAT is recognized by the Government of India as a national level entrance exam for taking admission to MBA and equivalent programs. MAT entrance exam is availed by lakhs of students every year and many institutes in India uses MAT scores for admissions.

How to Apply for MAT May 2017:

  • Option 1: Candidates can apply online by uploading image of photograph and signature. Or
  • Option 2: Candidates can apply online without uploading image of photograph and signature.

How to fill MAT online application form by Option 1:

  • Step 1: New candidate to create Log In
    • Fill the details to create Log In. You must have a valid email ID for applying online.
    •  Press the button “Submit”. Once the information filled here will not be changed.
    • The confirmation for the registration will also be sent on your email entered.

Note: Kindly note the Email-ID and Date of birth as filled by you will be used to login to the website to fill the online application form.

  • Essential documents to be made ready: Before starting to fill up the on-line application, keep ready with you the following details/ documents/Information:
    • Valid Email ID (the email should be valid for at least 1 year)
    • Personal details
    • Educational qualification details
    • Image of scanned photograph in jpg / jpeg format and size should not exceed 50 KB
    • Image of scanned signature in jpg / jpeg format and size should not exceed 50 KB
    • Demand Draft of requisite of Rs.1200/- drawn in favour of “All India Management Association”, payable at New Delhi in case making payment DD. Or
    • Debit / Credit Card/Net Banking details in case making online payment.
  • Step 2: Already logged In candidate log in to complete the process of filling online application form
    • Action 1: Fill Application:
      • Fill the details on the online application form. Since your eligibility will be screened based on the information furnished by you, you are required to exercise sufficient care to correctly furnish the details of your qualification, etc.
      • While filling the application form online, please save the information by clicking the button “Save”.
      • In case you wish to edit any information you can do that by log in again using Email-ID and Date of birth and after editing the information, make sure to save the information by clicking the button “Save”.
    • Action 2: Uploading images:
      • Upload Photograph
      • Upload Signature
    • Action 3: Make Payment: There are two options available for payment of application fee as given below:
    • Payment through Demand Draft:
      • Make demand draft of Rs.1200/- in favour of “All India Management Association”, payable at New Delhi.
      • The details of the Demand Draft are to be filled in the online application form.
      • Candidates applying through Demand Draft are required to send the printout of the Application Form, duly completed in all respect, along with Demand Draft on Manager - MAT, All India Management Association, Management House, 14, Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi - 110003.
    • Payment through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking:  In case payment option selected is Netbanking or Debit/Credit Card and photographs and signatures uploaded, candidates need not to send the printout of the online application form, however they are advised to keep the copy of the application form for future references.
    • Action 4: View Application: Candidate can view the by clicking the button “Action 4: View Application” and can take print out of the same for their record.
  • Step 3: Check the status of your application.
  • Step 4: Download the Admit Card

Note: The admit card for written test will NOT be sent by post or email. Candidates are advised to regularly check AIMA website for updates.

Payment Details:

  • Payment through Credit Card/Debit Card (Approved by Master/Visa):
    • Candidates are required to pay a fees of Rs.1200/-.
    • With the Credit Card ready, you can do online registration. You are to exercise sufficient care while furnishing the details.
    • After filling the form correctly, click the button "Proceed Next". The data filled by you will be displayed. In case you wish to change any information, click "Back to Edit Registration Form" button. If there is no change in information, click "Pay Now!" button. Recheck before submitting online as no editing is possible after submission.
    • An auto-generated Registration Number is allotted to you on successful submission of online registration form and will appear on print version of the registration form.
    • After taking the print out, affix your passport size photograph & put your signature in the space provided on the print version of application.
  • Obtaining of Demand Draft (Pre-Requisite):
    • Application submitted without the details of the demand draft will not be accepted.
    • Candidates are required to obtain a Demand Draft for Rs.1200/- drawn in favour of 'All India Management Association' payable at New Delhi, in advance.
    • After filling the online form correctly, click the button "Proceed Next". The data filled by you will be displayed. In case you wish to change any information, click "Back to Edit Registration Form" button. If there is no change in information, click "Submit" button. Recheck before submitting online as no editing is possible after submission.
    • Make the set of the following documents:
    • Print out of the filled online MAT Registration Form with auto-generated Registration No. with your photograph affixed and duly signed.
    • On the back of Demand Draft please fill the following details:
      • Your Name
      • Auto-generated Registration Number
  • Send the above set of documents to: Manager-CMS (MAT-Online), All India Management Association, Management House, 14 Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003.
  • On receipt and verification of duly completed printout with Demand Draft, the MAT Bulletin in CD format containing the profiles of participating management institutes, will be sent by AIMA to the address filled by you. Peruse the bulletin to identify five institutes where your MAT Score is to be sent by AIMA automatically.

Pattern of MAT May 2017:

A candidate is allowed to take MAT in only one mode i.e. either Paper Based Test or Computer Based Test for this current administration of MAT.

MAT is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers. The test is designed to measure a person’s general aptitudes as the following table indicates:

  • All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only.
  • The duration of the test is 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • There are 200 questions. All questions are compulsory. Each question has four answer options marked (1), (2), (3) and (4).
  • All questions carry equal marks. There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

About Paper Based Test:

  • Answers are to be marked on the Answer Sheet, which is provided separately.
  • Choose the correct option and darken the oval completely corresponding to (1), (2), (3) and (4) against the relevant question number.
  • Use only HB Pencil to darken the oval for answering.
  • If you wish to change any answer, erase completely the one already marked and darken the fresh oval with an HB pencil.

About Computer-Based Test:

  • Computer Based Test means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate submits the answers through the use of keyboard or mouse.
  • Computer Based Test assumes that the candidate has basic familiarity with use of computers like use of keyboard and mouse operation. It is the responsibility of the candidate to acquire these skills before appearing in the test and AIMA cannot take responsibility for the same.
  • There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 200 questions.
  • All questions will be of the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type. Each MCQ will consist of a stem which may be in the form of a question or an incomplete statement and four options. Candidates must choose the correct or most appropriate answer by clicking on the button next to the answer. Candidate can change this answer by clicking on the appropriate answer. Candidates can navigate freely through the questions. Candidate can move between the sections.

General Instructions:

  • Candidates are to report to the allotted test center at least 45 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the test.
  • Candidates are to be in possession of the following when reporting to the test center:
  • Document: Admit Card duly completed.
  • Writing Materials: Ball Point Pen, HB Pencils, Eraser and Sharpener.
  • The test room will be opened about 30 minutes before the commencement of the test. The candidates are to be seated at the allotted place.

Tips by AIMA:

  • Candidates should take the questions in order, but do not waste time pondering over those that seem extremely difficult or unfamiliar to you. A wise practice is to first answer the questions you are sure of.
  • Although the MAT stresses on accuracy more than speed, it is important to use the allotted time wisely. Make every effort to pace yourself by making yourself familiar with the mechanics of the test.
  • The directions explain exactly what each set of questions requires to answer those questions. Read all test directions carefully.
  • Read each question carefully and thoroughly.
  • Before answering a question, determine exactly what is being asked.
