IIM-A again ranked number 1 in CNBC-TV18's annual B-school rankings

CNBC TV has again ranked Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) as number 1 B-school in CNBC-TV18's annual B-school Rankings. CNBC released the 4th edition of its annual ranking study, ‘India’s Best B-Schools 2012’ which covers 145 B-Schools, 217 faculty members and 235 recruiters. CNBC-TV18's annual B-School Ranking is India’s leading and one of the most comprehensive rakings for management education.

IIM-A has topped the list and remains a benchmark for MBA education in India followed by IIM Bangalore (IIM-B) which grabbed second position. IIM-B has improved its performance in areas such as industry interface and international networks. IIMs have again proved their supremacy amongst the top B-schools of India as 6 out of the top 10 positions were grabbed by IIMs.

This year also BFSI, Consulting, IT and FMCG continued to be the most preferred sectors for B- School graduates in India as 70% recruiters visiting the campus belonged to these sectors. In terms of average salaries, top B-schools reported an average increase of about 20%. However the management schools at lower ranks were striving with challenges such as intake capacity, salary increase and placements.

The maximum salary offered for a domestic posting at IIM-A was Rs 37 lacs per annum and for a foreign posting was USD 139.64 thousands per annum. The average and median salary figures were 16.36 lacs per annum and 15.15 lacs per annum respectively. IIM- A posted nearly 14% of its graduates in abroad.

IIM-A has recently introduced the ‘cohort’ based placement system where the companies offering similar profiles, roles, salaries, locations etc would visit the campus together at a particular time based on the batch preferences.
