IIM-A (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad) will start its cohort-based summer placements for the PGP batch of session 2012-2014 today, November 7, 2012.
Even though the job market is grappling with the fear of economic crisis, students are hopeful to receive 15-20% hike in stipends this year. This is due to the large number of companies who made lucrative offers for final placements in March 2012.
This year the placement will roll in 4 clusters which will begin today, November 7, 2012. The next cluster will begin on November 9, followed by November 16 and finally the placement process will end on November 17, 2012. The institute is expecting better offers from the sectors such as ecommerce, technology and consulting.
Out of 379 students who participated in the summer placement process 2011, only 42 candidates received international offers. Last year, financial services, banking and BFSI sector emerged as the top choices of the students with 112 of them getting placed in this domain. Other industries which attracted majority of students were consulting with 81 students accepting internships offers, IT with 31 and FMCG with 45 students accepting the offers.
