Currently, IIM-A (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad) is pondering on a proposal to commence a regular MBA program in Bhutan. Sources reveal Bhutan has sent a proposal to IIM –A to start a regular MBA program in their country. Presently, IIM-A is working out the sustainability of this program.
Bhutan has not only sent a proposal but also contended that commencing of a regular MBA program in Bhutan by IIM-A may attract students from nearby countries such as Bangladesh, Thailand and Pakistan.
Bhutan is presently in the process of setting up infrastructure facilities from where the academic programs are expected to be offered. Moreover, Bhutan is so keen that IIM-A should offer its regular MBA program in their country that it has given IIM-A an option to operate as an autonomous body without getting associated with the Bhutan university.
Sources from IIM-A reveal that if everything works out fine MBA program offered by IIM-A in Bhutan will work as an outreach program.
IIM-A is now all set to start its second 2-week executive education program in Bhutan. The institute had organized the first 2-week general management program in Bhutan for taking management education to SAARC countries.
