The Karnataka PGET counselling for medical and dental courses will begin today at the Rajiv Gandhi University Health Sciences (RGUHS) as per the government order.
The first phase for dental courses will be held today; the second round on May 24. The first round of counselling for medical is scheduled from May 14 to May 17, while the second round will be held on May 25 and 26. A total of 11000 students took the Karnataka PGET exam and 7,500 candidates cleared it.medical
This year, students will have an option to enroll in new courses in subjects such as hospital administration and emergency medicine. Deemed universities such as JSS University, Yenopoya University, KMC Manipal, Nitte University and KMC Mangalore will be participating in the counseling from this year onwards by contributing 25% of additional seats which these universities have received through MCI’s nod.
Deemed universities have been notified for giving up these extra 25% seats to the government. In addition, 3% of seats are to be reserved in the medicine and allied subjects, pre-clinical and para-clinical subjects for physically challenged persons as per another government order. KRLM-PCA (Karnataka Religious and Linguistic Minority Professional Colleges Association) and Comedk colleges will be contributing 20% and 33% of their total seats to Karnataka PGET students.
