Cardiology is a division of medicine which deals with the diagnosis and treatment related to heart disorders. Therefore a doctor who plans to practice cardiology first goes through the in-house medicine residency program and then attends the fellowships program to obtain more specialized training and practice in the field of cardiology.

When a student completes a certain course in cardiology,  he becomes eligible to become a cardiologist. These professionals offer treatments for heart failure, valvular heart disease, inborn heart defects and electrophysiology.  They perform different diagnostic tests to examine heart condition. Radiology studies, cardiac catheterization, stress tests, electrocardiograms are few areas that a cardiologist mainly focuses on.

Cardiology is a rapidly growing field due to the constant technological and pharmaceutical advancements introduced by researchers and scientists in this field.
