The last date of new registrations for the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) of the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test 2014 (MAH CET 2014) has been further extended from Wednesday, May 21 to Thursday, May 29, 2014, as per a decision of the Directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra (DTE Maharashtra). Moreover, the last date for document verification at Application Form Receipt Centers (ARCs) of the state has also been extended from Thursday, May 22 to Friday, May 30, 2014.
As per sources, the registration deadline has been extended further as DTE Maharashtra was unable to fill up all the seats. Till date, 27,557 candidates have registered for CAP. There are 45,297 seats for Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master in Management Studies (MMS) programs in 411 business schools (B-schools) in Maharashtra.
According to an earlier move taken due to less participation in MAH CET 2014 CAP, DTE Maharashtra had extended the CAP registration deadline from Monday, May 12 to Wednesday, May 21, 2014 and online applications were invited from candidates who could not register for MAH CET 2014. Registrations for MAH CET 2014 were held from Monday, January 27 to Friday, February 14, 2014. The examination was conducted on Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16, 2014 for first-year admission into full-time two-year MBA, MMS as well as Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programs offered by government, university managed, university departments as well as unaided institutes in Maharashtra. The examination was held in 46 cities across Maharashtra and few other states in India. The Results of the examination were declared on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
Candidates who did not appear for the MAH CET 2014 have been given another opportunity to gain admission into state management institutes by the DTE Maharashtra. Candidates who appeared for the Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT 2013), Graduate Management Admissions Test 2014 (GMAT 2014), Xavier Aptitude Test 2014 (XAT 2014), Management Aptitude Test February 2014 (MAT February 2014), Common Management Admission Test February 2014-15 (CMAT February 2014-15) and AIMS Test for Management Admissions 2014 (ATMA 2014) can apply online for admissions. The extension will give an opportunity to MAT May 2014 candidates as well. These candidates will only be eligible for All India Seats. They need to register as well as confirm the online application form at the website of DTE Maharashtra. Online payment of Rs 2000 needs to be made by candidates under the General Category. The fees are Rs 1800 for candidates under the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Persons with Disabilities (SC/ST/PWD) categories belonging to Maharashtra state only.
CAP is the final round of the admission process for different B-schools in Maharashtra. It consists of Group Discussion-Personal Interview (GD-PI) as well as document verification.
