AICTE announces scholarships for girl and differently-abled students

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi has announced new scholarship programs which include Scholarships for girl students (under the PRAGATI scheme) as well as differently-abled students.

Aspirants can visit the AICTE website to apply for the Scholarships with all relevant documents. To avail the scheme, candidates should have secured admission in the first year Diploma/Degree program during the 2014-15 academic session through centralized admission process conducted by the state admission counseling authority. Moreover, they should not be availing any other scholarship for this purpose from any other source.

Under PRAGATI, there are 4,000 Scholarships. The amount is Rs 30,000 or tuition fees at actual, whichever is lesser. The contingency allowance is Rs 2,000 per month for l0 months. The family income should be less than Rs 6 lakhs per annum. The eligibility to avail the benefit is one girl per family, admitted to AICTE-approved institute programs/courses of Diploma and Undergraduate (UG) Degree level. Only students admitted in the first year of the academic session 2014-15 can apply.

The plan for differently-abled students will have around 1,000 Scholarships. An amount of Rs 2,000 will be granted to each student per month for a period of 10 months. Under this scheme too the family income should not exceed Rs 6 lakh per annum. The student has to be enrolled in any of the AICTE-approved institutes for diploma or UG courses. The Scholarships will be granted to students enrolled in the first year of the program.

AICTE is the statutory body of the technical education system throughout India.
