Bharti Walmart inaugrates retail training center in UP

The world’s leading retailer, Bharti Walmart has established its first retail training center in Lucknow, UP (Uttar Pradesh).

The training center known as Best Price Modern Wholesale Store would offer free training to disadvantaged youth and provide them skills needed in the cash and carry and well structured retail formats.

Walmart and Bharti Enterprises entered into a joint venture to form Bharti Walmart for wholesale and back end supply chain management operations in India.

The objective of training center is to produce talented professionals in retail by training 40 students each month.   Short term vocational courses would be offered to create sales and floor supervisors and assistants.

The center would help unprivileged youth to find jobs and improve their skills. Free training along with campus placement assistance would be offered at the training center.

The curriculum of the certification courses has been designed considering the best global practices of Walmart and would be introduced through training solution provider Centum Learning. Bharti Walmart would certify the successful candidates. Till now, more than 15000 candidates of Bharti Walmart have received certifications and about 5400 have been placed in various companies.

Such centers based on PPP (public-private partnership) model are being run in Delhi, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bangalore and Hyderabad. 3 training centers are also operating at stores in Jalandhar, Zirkapur and Ludhiana in Punjab and 4 training centers have been established in association with the Hope foundation in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Bharti Walmart caters to manufacturers, small retailers and farmers. The first cash and carry store of Bharti Walmart was inaugurated at Amritsar in May 2009.
