Disha – A scholarship program for women scientists in India

epartment of Science & Technology invites application for scholarship scheme for women scientists and technologists in India who have breaks in their career due to social responsibilities and are interested to return to the field of science and work.

Scholarship program details:

The selected fellows will be awarded a fellowship amount of Rs 35000 for Doctorate in Science and Masters in Engineering and Medicine) as Research Scholarships and Rs 20000 for Post Graduate in science and bachelors in Engineering and Medicine.

Scholarship program eligibility criteria:

  • Women scientists of Indian origin and residing in India
  • Women scientists who are currently unemployed/not holding a permanent position/holding a temporary position during project work
  • Women scientists of age less than 55 years
  • Must possess master’s degree or PhD in science or master’s/bachelor’s degree in technology/engineering, veterinary/pharmacy/medicine, architecture.

Selection procedure:

Selection process will have 2 stages. In 1st stage initial screening will be done and 2nd stage will include presentation of the shortlisted candidates infront of the group of experts.
