Karnataka CET admissions: KEA extends date of declaration of admission matrix

Published On: 18 Aug 2012 | Last Updated On: 18 Aug 2012

KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) has extended the date of announcing online seat allocation matrix for second round for admission to different engineering colleges through CET (Common Entrance Test) from August 21, 2012 to August 25, 2012. Also students can accept or surrender a Comed-K seat by August 23, 2012.

If KEA had not revised its timetable, then the students who could not secure a seat in their desired college had an alternative to choose a seat in Comed-K.

But now with revised dates, the candidates will have to either accept or reject a seat in Comed-K on or before August 23, 2012, before they get to know the result of admission matrix.

The rule states that students are required to pay a fee of Rs 50,000 to Comed-K at the time of blocking a seat and if he surrenders the seat by August 23, 2012, then the amount of Rs 45,000 will be refunded by the Comed-K. In case a student fails to surrender his seat on or before August 23, 2012, he will lose the entire amount.

The revised schedule by KEA has put students in confusion and is expected to affect 500-700 students in Karnataka.

Students are left with no option but either to surrender their Comed-K seat and take a risk or wait for declaration of CET matrix on August 25, 2012 and give up Rs 50,000.

Sources from KEA revealed that it had no other option than extending the dates as it is yet to receive vacant seat list from several colleges including NITK (Surathkal) and Karnataka Veterinary, University of Agriculture Sciences (UAS), Animal Husbandry, Fisheries Sciences Universities (Bidar).

Many students have blocked seats in multiple colleges and the KEA has yet not received a clear figure on available seats. By extending dates, KEA wants to ensure that all the students get opportunity to secure a seat.
