The online counseling for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) did not witness a great start on Thursday, July 12, 2012. Firstly, there was a delay in receiving the seat matrix. Then network problem came in and finally the super slow website acted as icing on the cake. This left hundreds of aspirants in the sway.
This is the first time when online counseling has been introduced for CET. Last date to opt for the colleges and course is July 18, 2012. The KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) in assistance with e-governance department and NIC (National Information Center) is taking initiatives to ensure that online counseling process concludes smoothly. Nearly 19000 candidates could fill in their options on day one.
A student revealed that she started the process at 11 am; initially the website did not open. Then she could manage to log in but main page refused to open. She kept trying till 5:30. Some students revealed that 4 links to enter the options did not open.
Official stated that they have installed the 128 GB server which can manage about 80,000 students at one time. Rather the network was not good and created problem. They are looking in to resolve the technical issues.
Authorities also added that they received the seat matrix very late, then arranging seat matrix of 190 colleges category wise also consumed ample time. The officials worked whole night to upload the matrix on the website which could be made possible only by yesterday afternoon. By that time many candidates were trying to log in at the same time.
The officials assured that the situation will be under control by Day 2 as they will develop multiple links.
