The KVS is reviewing its KVS Education Code to ensure there are no impediments to the implementation of the Right to Education Act (RTE). The RTE provides for free and compulsory education for children till class eight.
The administrative body has instructed all member-schools to adhere to the decision and not fail any student in grades one to eight till further orders.
The circular reads, “It is stated that some Articles of KVS Education Code are under review so that these Articles no longer contradict or impede various Articles of RTE Act, 2009. It has been requested to inform principals of all the Kendriya Vidyalayas functioning in your region not to issue TC or to detain students of classes I to VIII, who have failed, till the outcome of the review.”
This move is, however, a temporary reprieve and will be re-examined on the completion of the review of the KVS Education Code.
