Despite of economic gloom, large number of PPOs (Pre-Placement Offers) are pouring in at non IIMs such as IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign trade), NMIMS and XIMB. The big giants such as Marico, JP Morgan, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs and Tata Motors are hiring students in large numbers from these institutes. The 2012 figures are expected to outnumber the number of PPOs offered last year.
More than 38 offers have been made to IIFT from recruiters such as Flipkart, GCPI and Colgate Palmolive. Since September, the institute has received 20 PPOs and 18 PPIs. The old IIMs are also receiving good number of PPOs indicating healthy placements.
NMIMS has received more than 53 PPOs and PPIs.
Pay packages expected to surpass 2011 figures
In 2011, NMIMS had received around 45 PPOs. Cummins, Goldman Sachs, Capegemini, Microsoft, Mahindra & Mahindra, GE, Wipro, Reckitt Benckiser, Citibank and many others have placed offers.
XIMB students have received more than 6 PPOs and 21 PPIs so far from firms such as Tata Group, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Godrej Industries. In 2011, it had received 20 PPOs. Mostly PPIs get converted to PPOs.
Companies offer PPI or PPOs to the students on the basis of their performance during summer internships. Such offers keep pouring in till January-February.
XLRI Jamshedpur was offered 73 PPOs in 2011 while this year it has 32 PPOs and 24 PPIs. Companies such as HUL, Accenture Management Consulting, DBS, Airtel, Abbott, Infosys and others have visited the campus to place offers.
All B-schools are expecting this year’s salary offers to cross last year’s levels. Most companies have not provided the salary structure as they are in the process of finalizing the revised salaries.
SPJIMR too starts receiving the PPIs and PPOs by October end. Mostly 51% of the students are offered PPIs/PPOs.
