Offbeat courses gaining popularity among students

While conventional courses such as bachelor in commerce, English and economics remain one of the sought after programs, offbeat programs in trade, fashion, social work and insurance offered by few colleges are also taking up the trend. IGNOU has become a prominent university to introduce a number of offbeat courses such as diploma in BPO (business process outsourcing), which integrates both theory and practical, designed by famous educationists, Accenture subject matter experts, BPO training and e-learning organizations to comprehensive learning structure to students. With Delhi University’s (DU’s) cutoffs reaching the mark of 100%, students are seeking other options that can pay well-off.

Many job oriented courses are being launched such as certified financial planning course. Bachelor degree holders from any stream are eligible to apply. Another course gaining popularity is culinary arts and a number of good colleges are providing diplomas in the subject. Besides, courses in cargo management, travel, computer hardware and networking can prove to be a jackpot.

Interestingly, many counselors suggest that students should opt for skill based certification courses instead of enrolling for a regular 3-year bachelor degree course. This saves your time if you are pursuing to build your career in choreography, animation, music and others. Nowadays with the increased use of social networking courses in online media are quite promising. These days’ companies are focusing more towards talent and skills rather than hiring mere degree holders.

Students are also opting for courses in photography.

Academicians have expressed that students should start looking beyond DU if they want to pursue best course in their desired area of interest. With prestigious universities increasing their cut-offs, students should seek other rewarding alternatives of their interest which can earn them lucrative job.
