The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, Shri Manik Sarkar has inaugurated a two-day National Seminar on “Perspectives of Education from India with special reference to Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra” organized by The ICFAI University, Tripura on 28th of August 2014 at its campus located at Kamalghat, Agartala.
In his speech, the Chief Minister laid emphasis on their educational system which would help a student build his character, attain truthfulness and humanism and remain brave in professional field and rest of the life. “The education system would begin at each family with mother playing the role of teacher and school teachers will play an important role in the primary and subsequent stages of learning,” the Chief Minister said.
Further, the Chief Minister appealed to the teachers to possess motivation for making a sensible society and love the students like their own children. “The society needs humanism among the teacher fraternity but not robots. The educational system in India has become a profitable business with direct impact of globalization”, he added.
Prof. (Dr) Biplab Loho Choudhury of Visva Bharati University delivered the keynote address and primarily stressed on the need for applying the thoughts and philosophies of great national leaders for transforming their educational system and advocated for equal importance to both School and Higher education.
Initially, in his welcome address Prof. (Dr) Ajay Pathak, the Vice Chancellor of The ICFAI University, reiterated that “ ICFAI University, Tripura (IUT) stands for quality education and looks forward for enhancing it further to reach greater heights in the field of education. IUT believes in humanism, tolerance and adventure of ideas”. He further informed that the IUT was in the process for tying up with IL&FS for providing vocational skill development training on sewing, electrification, welding, carpentary and rubber plantation with an object to develop the vocational skills among the working class.
During the technical sessions of the seminar, the delegates from renowned educational institutions presented 10 papers on different topics of education with reference to Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Biplab Halder, gave vote of thanks. Eminent educationalists, research scholars from across the country, faculty members, staff and students of the University attended the two-day event.
The ICFAI University, Tripura (IUT): IUT was established in 2004 through an Act of State Legislature (Tripura Act 8 of 2004). The University has been approved by the University Grants Commission, under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and the University is empowered to award degrees under Section 22 of UGC Act, 1956. The University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
Infrastructure: The campus based at Agartala is lush green spread over 32 acres of land with 6 lakhs sq.ft of built-up area. Campus has various facilities such as classrooms, faculty rooms, meeting halls, lecture halls, cafeteria, library, computer centre, administrative block and laboratories. Hostel facilities are available to the students. The entire campus is wi-fi enabled.
