In such cases, the best of three scores will be considered. Candidates who obtain a good score in this entrance examination can appear for Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview (PI) also.

Paper Pattern for NMAT by GMAC 2016 -

  • The NMAT™ exam is computer-delivered and gives each candidate a randomly generated test. The number of questions, difficulty levels, and the time limit for each of the sections is predetermined and, under normal administration conditions, are the same regardless of when and where the test is administered.
  • The NMAT exam has three sections targeted at measuring different skills – Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning.
  • Each of the sections is further divided into Sub-sections
    • Quantitative – 7 sub-sections
    • Language – 6 sub-sections
    • Logical Reasoning – 7 sub-sections
  • NMAT would be an objective type multiple-choice test. (There will be no descriptive type questions).
  • The NMAT will comprise the following:

Sr. No

No. of Questions

Time in Minutes

Language Skills

Quantitative Skills

Logical Reasoning

The candidate should note that it is important for them to perform well relative to other candidates in each of the 3 sections of the test as the score of each section and the overall score will be used to shortlist the candidate for the second stage of the selection process as well as in the final ranking. Please note that there will be no negative marking.

Please note that if the candidate is not satisfied by his/her NMA score in the first attempt he/she may schedule for re-take NMA by visiting www.pearsonvue.com/nmims and logging in with the allotted username and password. In case of candidates taking more than one attempt the best score which is the total score and its respective sectional score, which make the candidate eligible as per the cut offs declared by NMIMS, will be considered for short listing for subsequent process. (Cut off means sectional as well as total score). The scores of all the attempts taken by the candidate will be declared on the NMIMS website.

There is no negative marking. Candidates are encouraged to answer all questions to the best of their ability. If you are not sure of a response, make an educated guess and try not to leave questions unanswered for fear of deduction in marks. The practice of no negative marking represents current best practices and psychometric principles.

The three sections of the NMAT are individually timed. Test takers must answer questions and review answers of each section within the allotted time. Test takers must review their answers before moving to another section of the exam, as once the candidate closes out of a section, all answers are final.
