My CET experience
I took the CET exam the previous year and I had worked very hard from the beginning to get a good rank. The common entrance test in Karnataka is taken by close to a lakh of people, so the competition is very high. I always wanted to be an engineer from ever since I can remember, and a software engineer after I was inspired by my uncle who goes abroad very often. I love traveling and decided that a software engineer is what I want be. experience
The fees for the engineering degree is quite high so getting a bad rank was out of the question. My parents wouldn’t have been able to afford it and a bad rank would also mean going out of town which wasn’t an option either. So I was determined to secure a good rank and I did.
As soon as my 11th std. exams were over I enrolled myself to a crash course for the 12th. This lasted for 5 months and I am glad that there was a special emphasis on the CET. The point being, even if one were to get a spectacular percentage in the board exam and a bad rank its bad. It won’t get you into a good college. So just try getting a decent percentage and concentrate on the CET.
Since the board exams and the CET are linked you will invariably have to study the whole syllabus. Take as many mock tests as you can as practice is very important for any competitive exam. I set a minute for every question and was able complete most of the papers on time. Nearly 40% of the questions every year are taken form the previous years papers. So go through them thoroughly, you will surely get a great rank.
Attending a good coaching institute is also very essential. You will learn short cuts, timing and benefit greatly from their tests. They will also very effectively guide you with the percentage of questions from each chapter. This will save you a lot of time and streamline your studying.
Start preparing for the exams early. A month of preparation in insufficient. Plan your study and don’t neglect any chapter. The one thing I regret is that I dint concentrate on few chapters in mathematics which cost me dear. Also beware of the kind of reference material you use. There is a lot of bad material being published. Look for renowned authors or publishers.
Wishing all of you that take the exam this year the best of hard work and best of luck…!!
