Currently im the 2^nd seeded player in the national archery circuit. 5^th in Asia and 37^th in the world. I have come a long way from the young, bubbling guy who entered archery, after his Engineering to bring fame n glory to his family. After completing my Engineering with hons. I thought of taking archery and bringing somefame n glory to my family as was their due. I started archery after my dad put some 3.5 lakhs for my equipment in Jan’05. On 7^th Jan’05 I started my archery and was very anxious to perform in the forth-coming state championships being held from 21^st to 23^rd of Jan’05. I used to practice from morning 6 to night 11-11:30 continuously. I never bothered for climate, health, food. I became the state champion on 23^rd and my photos were on every sportspage of state dailies but I wasn’t satisfied. I figured that if I score 7 points more, I would be making a new world record!!! So I tried harder for perfection, the national championships were from 14^th Feb’05 n I thought it was my chance. I made 1 World record, 5 National records on 16^th of Feb n when I reached home I was already a celebrity. People all over the state knew me. I was everywhere!!! TV, news, radio, posters, hoardings…..The guy whom a few people knew had now become an instant celebrity!

I was being contacted by virtually everyone. I received calls from PM, President, Minister of Sports & YA, CM, Governor, Ministers, MLA’s, MP’s…..suddenly everybody knew me and it was too much to digest. I was just basking in the new found glory. I had been declared the captain of the Indian team and I was just elated. Then I had my tour of South East Asian Countries including Bangkok, Hong-kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Phillipines and Singapore. I did a captain’s job and became the Asian Champion, in March’05. In April I was again selected for the Euro-Asian Tour for Japan, China, Korea, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, France, Germany, Netherlands. I was on a roll n my ranking soared to 91^st in the world and 8^th in the Euro-Asian Circuit.
