Endurance Task And Presence of Mind - Task Race

Bookmark Share
The Endurance Task was one of the rounds of the Amazing Race organised by the students of BMSCE for their annual cultural fest- UTSAV ’07. For this task, teams (10 teams under each group) had to go from one end of a rocky area to another by crossing obstacles in the way & the first team which did that would be declared the winners. The heat was a huge hindrance during the entire task & for this reason there were water cans at various check-points & glucose was available too. The obstacles would be in the form of questions which the team would have to answer in order to proceed. The right answer would point to the right track & the wrong answer would take them off track thereby slowing them down from reaching the finishing line first. There were nature’s obstacles to deal with also like the thorny bushes, the jagged rocks, uneven muddy tracks, etc....The task was about an hour long & everyone was hugely relieved once it was over and they could proceed to the next task.

The Presence of Mind was  another round of the Amazing Race in which teams had to have a presence of mind in order to complete the tasks first. There were 2 tasks in this event- the first was a task in which a number of boxes were placed in random order & one team member would be blind-folded while the other member would have to guide him/her around the boxes making sure that he/she does not touch the box or step out of the boundary line. Three trials were given in the space of 5 minutes & the team to complete the task successfully & the fastest was declared the winner.
The second task under the Presence of Mind was one in which a set of nails, a length of rope & a long stick would be given to the teams & they are required to use the rope n nails & make the stick stand for a while. The team which is able to do this first & fastest is the winner. The teams had an easier time with this task compared to the Endurance Task but it wasn’t a cake-walk either as they had a hard time in trying to keep the stick upright. Tempers & frustration ran high among some groups while others took part just for the fun of the sport. All in all it was quite interesting to watch ways in which the teams handled the tasks.
