Preparing for an exam
The examination by itself is not scary...but it's the process of studying and preparing for it that leaves us stressed out.

There are quite a few ways which can help you prepare better. And these tips don't even require an extravagant effort.
There are many who believe in studying everyday yet they fail to do well. And there are those who just at a glimpse can retain and reproduce what they saw. There are the others who work hard, day-in and day-out. There are the rest who just sit up the day before exam, concentrate and study and still manage to do well.
I have listed just a few general guidelines you could follow to ease your work load.

I have listed just a few general guidelines you could follow to ease your work load.
- I believe, the most important thing while studying is to concentrate and to understand what you are studying.
- If you are the kinds who needs to read everyday, then please do so! Don't get discouraged by others. As there are people who can read the day before and max the paper. But not everyone is the same.
- Though this might seem hard to do in class, taking notes actually helps. When you write you tend to remember.
- Know what you have to study and how much if it is important.
- Devote your time equally. Time management is crucial.
- Sit in an upright position while studying. Lying down or sitting in a relaxed position and studying inhibits you from concentrating and retaining what you study.
- Study in a well- lit and well-ventilated room.
- If you are prone to distarctions, try to keep the objects of distraction as far as possible. If you can't move them away, then you move away from them.
- Highlight the important points. it will help when you are brushing through or revising.
- Take quick breaks between studying. Do not study for more than 2-3 hours at a stretch.
- Eat well. Sleep well.
- Having tea, coffee etc is okay but having too much of it might reverse your purpose of having it and might harm you.
- Don't get anxious if you cannot finish studying the entire portion. Study what you can, but study that well. There's no point hurrying through the portions if your not going to remember anything of it. Quality not quantity is important.
- Try working out previous question papers to test how much you actually know. But make sure that you don't freak if you can't answer it. Stop. Turn back the pages and read again.
- Don't over study. Try to avoid studying what will not appear in the exam. There's no harm but good in reading extra. But if it overcrowds your memory, you rather not!
- Be sure of the format of the exam.
- Do not study just before entering the examination hall. It does no good at all. Keep a few hours before the exam for revision and take the time off just before the exam to relax.
“Examinations are formidable even to the best prepared, for the greatest fool may ask more than the wisest man can answer.”
- Charles Caleb Colton
