Which one of these do you have?
Exam stress? exam fever? exam anxiety? exam tension?

 


Well all these words following the word exam mean different things. But in respect to exams, they are used quite synonymously. It's the apprehensiveness to appear for an exam.
If you actually face one of these, relax...because you are more than normal. There are very few who don't have such worries and you can more than gladly call them the "different" ones.
There are many reasons why exams become such a cause fear:
  • you have to meet the standard you have set for yourself.
  • Peer preasure
  • Parental expectation.
  • Stereotypes.
  • Media influence.
  • Societal pressure and expectation
  • They determine your future course.
These are just a few, most obvious ones of the million reasons.

If no kind of pep talk helps you, take a deep breath and read on.
As humans, we are gifted with the ability to deal with most of our problems. To know how to deal with this exam stress, we first need to understand what stress actually is.
Stress is defined as an organisms total response to environments demands and pressures. It's a normal response of our body to challenging situations.

Listed below are some ways you can deal with stress during exams:
  1. Make a schedule and stick to it. Scheduling id the easier part, following it isn't. So make sure you do.
  2. Sit in an upright position while studying. It inproves concentration.
  3. Be realistic and set realistic goals that you can achieve . Or you would be disappointed.
  4. Do breathing excersises or practice yoga, meditation ro the like.
  5. Drink plenty of water and eat proper meals at regular intervals.
  6. Sleep well. Don't over work your brain or or your body.
  7. Take breaks! They matter.
  8. Utilize your time efficiently.
  9. Be positive.
  10. If your feeling discouraged or stressed out, talk to somebody and express your feelings.
  11. Limit or even better, avoid the intake the drugs such as caffeine.
  12. Revise methodically
  13. Believe in yourself!


Self Management is the only way you can beat this stress. A small amount of stress can prove to be beneficial as it makes you more alert and focused. But too much of it can only hinder you. So take a "chill pill" and tell yourself...it's only an exam and I know what I am capable of!
