IIT-Patna ties up with US varsity for student exchange programme

Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT )-Patna signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Houston for exploring possibilities of cooperation in research, scholarship and exchange programmes. Soon after IIT -P director Anil K Bhowmick and Prof Ramanan Krishnamoorti, associate dean of research, the University of Houston, put their signatures on the MoU, Bhowmick said it was a proud moment for IIT-P as the MoU will go a long way in bettering the quality of teaching and research at IIT-P. The Harvard Graduate School of Education will offer a new, tuition-free doctoral degree in education leadership, its first new degree in 74 years. School officials liken the Doctor of Education Leadership Program to the education equivalent of a law or medical degree. The US Consulate in Chennai has brought down the time taken to get appointment for a visa. The consulate’s new consul for public affairs, Michael P Pelletier, announced that the waiting time is no more than 2 to 3 days even during peak months now. According to the survey by Council of Graduate Schools, Washington, student's applications from China and the Middle East have increased for the admission to US graduate Programmes while the number of applications from India and South Korean have fallen.
