DU offering short term programs

Colleges affiliated to Delhi University (DU) have introduced a range of short term courses in the new academic year.

Experts reveal that to distinguish oneself from the rat race, students’ today need additional courses. Today recruiters seek students with new skill sets, added qualifications and a broader perspective.

In a bid to bridge this gap DU is offering a wide range of short term courses for undergraduate students. Students can opt for 1 in each of the streams out of the number of courses available at the colleges.

Humanities students can pursue a number of short term certificate courses in mass media, foreign languages, human rights and advertising. Commerce and science students can opt for courses in finance and accounting, marketing, actuarial sciences, fingerprinting and forensic sciences.

SGTB Khalsa College will launch a certificate course in 3 foreign languages – Korean, Chinese and Japanese besides French and German which are already on offer. The college also offers certificate courses in economics, web journalism and sports marketing.

 Sources from SGTB Khalsa College revealed that such additional courses helps in developing new skill sets among students which will augment the degree courses being pursued by them.

Hindu College is also launching a new short term course in actuarial sciences from this academic year. ANDC (Acharya Narendra Dev College) provides short term certificate courses on effective communication, insurance and personality development. The certificate course in insurance known as ‘Yuvodaya’ includes aspects such as tax benefits, life insurance, insurance laws and regulations.

The college has also introduced a certificate course in insurance to prepare students for corporate. Students who wish to join insurance sector in future can take up this course irrespective of their stream.

Besides, different short term and additional courses in personality development, document examination and fingerprinting are on offer at Deen Dayal Updhyaya College. Ramjas College also imparts add on courses in conflict resolution, forensic science, capital market programs and biotechnology.
