Jamia Milia Islamia in order to bring in transparency into the process of selections will record the interviews conducted for admissions to its mass communication programmes for this academic year.
Video recordings of the interviews being conducted for admissions to programmes offered by the AJK Mass communication research centre (AJK MCRC) will be taken by the university. Officials from the university revealed that the initiative is to keep records of the selection process and also to bring in accountability in the system of admissions.
Sources also added that recording interviews will help interviewers assess the performance of the candidate, as assessing candidates can be a very subjective matter. Such records can be accessed even after the interview and help in making decisions regarding selections. The initiative is currently in its experimental stage and has been introduced since the first round of interviews began on June 11, 2012.
Students attending the interviews are excited about the ongoing experiment as they are aware that they are being recorded. The university plans to extend the experiment to admissions for other programmes as well depending on how beneficial the move is.
