Ranchi University to get Romanian research student

Ranchi University's officials had a six hour long syndicate meeting to discuss various issues including the admission of a Romanian student, who was interested in pursuing her PhD from Ranchi University.

The meeting discussed and granted permission to the Romanian student to pursue her program at Ranchi University, apart from discussing the issue of diversion of corpus funds. Officials from the university revealed that the allegations regarding the fund were baseless, as no irregularities have been found.

The career advancement scheme of the university was also discussed, and an increment was given to a lecturer of St. Xavier's college under the scheme. Geography and Chemistry lecturers were given promotions, while six new lecturers were appointed to the college.

As per the sources, the decision to provide Indian Institute of Management (IIM) - Ranchi with three classrooms for a period of three years was also discussed. The class rooms are being lent to the IIM on request of the director of the IIM.

The syndicate meeting also discussed funds received under the Rajiv Gandhi National fellowship, after complaints that many departments had not received necessary funds. As per the rules, the respective department is supposed to receive the Rs.3, 000 allotted per student under the fellowship. Officials said that the university has received a sum of Rs. 17 Lakh and departments can apply and claim it whenever they want to.
