Fellow Programme in Management at IIM Ahmedabad – Indian Institutes of Management are the apex education institutions for management education in India. There are 20 such institutions in India helping nurture the management talent in the country. The institutions are autonomous societies and have independent control over their day-to-day operations. However, the direction and the macro decisions are made by the IIM council which directly falls under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, abbreviated as IIMA, is the second such institution in India when it started operation in 1961. It is still one of the top management institutions in the country and has secured multiple ranks in the international rankings.
Fellow Programme in Management is the doctoral program offered by IIMA in the field of management studies. The objective of the program is to identify and develop students with managerial skills who will able to research and solve complex issues in the field of management. The course is usually completed in 4 to 5 years which includes rigorous 2-year coursework. The first year will help the students understand the fundamental concepts of management and the skills required to solve the managerial problems. The second year will be focused on the specialization chosen by the student. After the 2 years examination will be conducted to assess the knowledge level of the students and their understanding of their specialization.
IIMA intakes only a small set of students for the FPM course which enables them to have better interaction with the instructor and help in understanding easier. After 2 years the students are encouraged to take their own field of study and prepare original research work for the doctoral dissertation. Students will be assigned to a thesis advisory committee who will help and guide the students to select their field of research for the dissertation.
IIMA offers 11 different fields of study for the doctoral program, (1) Business Policy, (2) Economics, (3) Finance & Accounting, (4) Food & Agribusiness, (5) Human Resource Management, (6) Information Systems, (7) Innovation and Management in Education, (8) Marketing, (9) Organizational Behaviour, (10) Production and Quantitative Methods, and (11) Public Systems.
Some of which like Food & Agribusiness and Public systems are unique to IIMA. In the Food and Agribusiness field, students will work closely with a team of interdisciplinary faculty members to identify and solve the managerial problems in industries that are primarily focused on agriculture. The industries include seed supplying, fertilizers, farm machinery and irrigation. Apart from the agriculture industry, the field also focuses on industries that are related to agriculture such as fish farming and poultry industry.
Basic Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must hold, subject to the condition laid down below,
- “A Master’s Degree in any discipline, with at least 55 per cent marks, AND with at least 50 per cent marks in the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification (minimum three years of bachelors level education after the completion of higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent”.
- Five years/four-year Integrated Masters Degree programme in any discipline, with at least 55 per cent marks, obtained after completing Higher Secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
- A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS, with at least 55 per cent marks.
- A 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree with at least 60 per cent marks or equivalent grade point average
Candidates applying to the Fellow Programme in Management are required to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) or a standard test in lieu of CAT. For NRIs and Foreign students, this standard test is the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Standard Test Score not required if an applicant is:
– PGP Alumni of any IIM
– PGPX/PGP-PMP Alumni of any IIM where such courses are offered

How to Apply?
Application Form and Brochure will be available online. Candidates can fill up the application form online and is eligible to apply for a maximum of three Areas of high levels of specialization. An application fee of Rs. 500/- can be paid through IIMA gateway. The last date for submitting the application will be January 24, 2019.
