IIT Bombay offers Dual Degree MTech/MTech+PhD Admissions 2018-19

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay offers dual degree of MTech/MTech+PhD for the year 2018-19. You can apply online iitb.ac.in. You can apply only through online as now downloadable forms are available. After filling the form, you are advised to take a print of your application and keep the same for your record.

Application Fee

For women and SC/ST/PwD category candidates the fee is Rs.150 and all other candidates will have to pay Rs.300. You can pay the fee through debit card or credit card in addition to SBI Internet Banking or online payment system. You need not submit the hard copy of the application and applications without online payment details will not be considered. The application fee is non-refundable. If the name of your qualifying discipline does not match exactly with the qualifying discipline listed in the brochure, you might as well select the code for the discipline closest to your qualifying degree discipline. In case you do not find a close match, then you can select ZE (in case of BE/BTech degree) or ZS (in case of MSc degree). What is more, the admission offered in these cases will be subject to the verification of the curriculum by the concerned academic unit of IIT Bombay. You can also apply for more than one program and can select up to ten preferences. If a discipline has multiple specializations, each specialization is counted as one option. OBC candidates should note that the limit of annual income is Rs.8 lakh for determining the creamy layer among OBC candidates. The OBC-NC certificate issued for the financial year 2017-18 by the competent authority in the prescribed format must be uploaded in the online application form and submitted at the time of admission.

Eligibility

Requirement of first class (60%) for postgraduate admission at IIT Bombay: As given under A.7.3., eligibility for MTech/MTech+PhD (Dual Degree) Programs. You can submit only one application. You must upload the following while submitting the MTech application: scanned photograph of the candidate, scanned version of your signature, mark sheet of the last semester/consolidated mark sheet of the qualifying degree (examination pending/result awaited candidates have to upload their latest/previous semester mark sheet); Caste Certificate such as OBC-NC/SC/ST, if applicable; an affidavit for having applied in case the certificate is not yet received, PwD certificate, if applicable and statement of purpose, also if applicable.

Candidates applying for Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (EE1, EE2, EE3 EE4, EE5) must provide the following information along with the application form: title of the final year project, four courses studied, which you think, are relevant to the MTech Program and short-term courses attended. This information is to be provided in the SOP attachment.

You should check the website for Results and other important announcements. You should check emails sent to the email address provided in your application for all important communications as well as announcements. Candidates called for written test/interview should bring with them photo ID card, hard copy of the application submitted online, final year thesis or dissertatio or report or publication or copy of certificates and mark sheets.

If you have degree from overseas university, then you should submit equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi for qualifying examination and proof of having first class or 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks or equivalent in qualifying examination. Seats reserved for OBC, Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NC)/SC/ST/Person with benchmark disability (PwD) category, as per Government of India rules. You should submit self-attested copies of your qualifying degree certificate/final transcripts on or before September 30, 2018 failing which, admission will stand cancelled.

Important Dates

The last date to convey the minimum qualifying GATE score/ qualification discipline GATE score to be eligible for applying at IIT Bombay and direct admission by concerned academic units to the academic office is February 14 and the candidates above this GATE score will only be able to apply online. The last date to convey the minimum qualifying GATE score for cut-off and number of students to be called for written test/interview to GN candidates by concerned academic units to the academic office is February 14. You can see the notification in all leading dailies and on the IIT website from March 11 and the beginning of online application forms mode is on March 20. The last date for submission of completed application forms is April 11.

Direct Admission Offers

AE, BM, CH, CS, EE, MM, MMM and SC on the basis of GATE score only for TA category (no written test and or interview for GN, SSC, ST, OBC-NC and PwD candidates), the first offer result announcement will come on April 17 and the last date for payment of fee is April 23, the second offer result announcement will be on April 27 and last date for payment of fee is May 3. The third offer (if any), the result will be announced on May 10, while the last date of payment of fee is May 16. The fourth offer (if any) result announcement will be as per COAP schedule.
