Comprehensive details on NEST 2019 including Counseling and Participating Colleges
NEST 2019 Counseling- It is only after the declaration of NEST 2019 results that the counselling procedure will begin. On scheduled date and time, candidates are required to appear at counselling venue. After the result declaration, the counselling dates will be available on the official website shortly.
For NISER Bhubaneswar and UM-DAE CBS, Mumbai, the first phase of the counselling will be joint counselling. Candidates are required to bring the necessary documents in original as well as photocopy. Failing to meet any of the criteria may result in cancellation of their admission. On the basis of the modified merit list, admission will be made.
By way of mail or coming in person, candidates can withdraw their admission. Second counselling will take place which will not be joint counselling depending on the seats left vacant at institutes.
By the institutes, the number of students who would be invited to each round of NEST 2019 counselling may be restricted. By satisfying SMAS and MAS criteria, no candidate will be entitled to automatic call up for any round of counselling just., the right to relax any of the defined cut-offs is reserved by NEST in extenuating circumstances.
Instructions for NEST 2019
On the date of counselling, candidates must be present at the counselling venue at a scheduled time. A failure to do so will amount to a forfeiture of admission claim.
On the basis of original merit list, a combined modified merit list will be prepared and the attendance at NISER and CBS.
On the basis of the modified merit list, the admissions will be granted strictly. To any of the participating institutes, appearing in counselling doesn’t guarantee admission. Admissions will be solely based on the modified merit list prepared on the counselling day while taking into account the reserved categories.
Candidates should carry required documents with them.
The participating institutes of NEST 2019 have some details which are different from each other. For keeping up with such details, the candidates need to stay updated with the website on the concerned institute. Such details which are different to each institute are listed below:
- Date of Registration
- Commencing date of the first-semester class
- Documents/Declarations required at the time of registration fee
Necessary documents for NEST 2019 Counseling
The candidates are required to carry certain documents with them on the day of counselling as listed below
- 10th class mark sheet (Original + 1 photocopy)
- 12th class mark sheet (Original + 1 photocopy)
- Birth Certificate or School Leaving Certificate as Date of Birth proof (Original + 1 photocopy)
- Caste certificate, if applicable (Original + 1 photocopy)
- Caste verification certificate in a case where the format of caste certificate only mentions the caste of the candidate and not the fact that said caste is included in the respective category
- Non-creamy layer OBC certificate, if applicable (Original + 1 photocopy)
- Disability certificate, if applicable (Original + 1 photocopy)
- Indian Citizenship proof, in case of candidates, was born outside India (Original + 1 photocopy)
- 4 passport size colour photographs
- Demand Draft in favour of NISER, payable at Bhubaneswar, or in favour of CBS, payable at Mumbai, wherever candidates are appearing for counselling
If the candidates have submitted their original certificates for admission to another institute, then they need to produce an undertaking stating the same from the said institute. The candidates are required to deposit their original documents. The admission committee will take at least a Class 12th mark sheet during counselling and will keep it for one semester.
The students, who have submitted their original documents to other institutes, must produce an official undertaking stating they will return the testimonials on demand by the candidate. In such a case, candidates must submit the original documents to the institute admission committee on the day of registration. A failure to do so without a valid reason shall amount to cancellation of admission.
Withdrawal of Admission from NEST 2019 Counseling
Before the withdrawal deadline, the candidates who wish to withdraw their admission should do so i.e. July mid. It can be done by coming in person. The candidate may also send a mail at nest@nestexam alternatively including the following details:
- Date of Birth
- Roll Number
- Application Number
- Counseling Venue Choice
- Percentage of marks in 12th class
At the time of withdrawal, the intimation regarding the return of original documents and refund of the amount deposited will be made.
After the first round of counselling and withdrawal deadline, each participating institute prepares its own waiting list. At a particular institute, this waiting list will form the basis for filling the seats left vacant. On their respective websites, participating institutes will announce the names of waitlisted candidates. The institute, where seats are left vacant, will conduct second counselling. On the websites of respective institutes, the dates for the same will be announced. This counselling will not be joint counselling.
On June 18th, 2019, the result for NEST 2019 will be out online. By entering the roll number and application number, candidates can check their results on the official website.
Rank Allotment System
A merit list will be prepared in descending order on the basis of total scores of the candidates who meet all the requirements for NEST 2019 seat Allotment.
The tiebreaker would be higher marks in the general section in case of a tie in scores of two or more candidates.
In any of the subject section, if scores are still tied, then the tiebreaker would be the score.
If a tie still persists at the time of declaration of results, the same rank will be provisionally allotted to all candidates. The class 12th marks and date of birth will be compared in that order during counselling/admission.
