NTA JEE Main 2019 begins on January 8, 2019

NTA JEE Main 2019- The National Testing Agency, the apex body under the Union Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India has begun the JEE (Main) 2019 examination from today. In excess of 11 lakh candidates are appearing for the JEE (Main) 2019 examinations, despite the two-day national agitation called by trade unions, said an NDTV report.

“The examinations will continue as per the schedule,” an official told NDTV. “If there are any genuine cases where students could not reach the exam centre due to the bandh, we will consider the cases later,” the official added. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the examination, simultaneously, in 258 cities. Today 1, 80,052 candidates took the architecture and planning paper at 390 centres.

“In order to stop cheating using mobile networks, Jammers have been installed in all the centres. A total of about 4,000 jammers per shift in all 10 shifts have been put in place,” the agency is quoted as saying by the report. An estimated 7,551 candidates have registered for the exam in Jammu and Kashmir. The NTA has allotted nine centres in the State. Inclement weather has completely blocked air and road transport in the valley. The attendance of students in the State can be ascertained after the examination is over.

Due to extreme weather condition, few students of Jammu and Kashmir could not reach the centre for NEET PG exam following which the National Board of Examinations, official organiser, has decided to conduct separate exam for such candidates.

This is the first JEE (main) and the second exam conducted by the NTA in its maiden year of authority. The next JEE (main) will be held in April. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN is held by the NTA from this year onwards. This Examination was being organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.

NTA JEE Main 2019 is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12thclass examination.

Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission to B.E./B.Tech. & B. Arch./B. Planning Courses in NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs is as under:-

Course Required Criteria based on Class 12th / Equivalent qualifying Examination
B.E/B.TECH Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.
B.ARCH./B.PLANNING Passed 10+2 examination with Mathematics.

The above-mentioned policy could also be adopted by other Technical Institutions participating in counselling through JoSAA/CSAB. In case a State opts to admit students in the engineering Colleges affiliated to State Universities, the State may prepare separate rank list based on criteria decided by them.
