Goa Institute of Management offers two-year PGDM – The Goa Institute of Management, one of the top management colleges in the country, affiliated to Goa University is providing a slew of management diploma courses such as PGDM, PGDM (BDA), PGDM (HCM) and PGDM (Part Time) in vivid disciplines. If you are interested in seeking admission to the Institute’s PGDM Program, you need to qualify in CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT examination. The final selection of candidates is based on the overall performance in the entrance exam followed by the personal interview.

Courses Offered

The Institute’s flagship program is PGDM, the two-year full-time management program that has got NBA Accreditation, which is equivalent to MBA degree of any Indian university. The specialisations offered by the Goa Institute of Management are as follows: PGDM (Health Care Management), PGDM (Big Data Analytics), PGDM Part Time and Management Development Program.


For PGDM, you must have a bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university in India with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).

  • PGDM (HCM) – Candidates must have a graduation degree in healthcare such as BDS, MBBS, Biotech, B.Pharm, B.Sc. (Microbiology, Biochemistry etc.), etc.
  • PGDM (BDA) – Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST).
  • PGDM (Part Time) – Bachelor’ degree with 50% marks in aggregate with two years of work experience in the related field is required.

Admission Process

Candidates who wish to take admission to GIM’s PGDM Programme need to make the XAT 2019 or CMAT 2019 Exam or should have taken the CAT 2017 Exam. GIM shortlist candidates by their CAT/CMAT/XAT Scores and are called for Personal Interview. After that, based on the overall performance of candidates in the management entrance exam and personal interview, the final merit list will be prepared.

Admission Cut-offs

For CAT the cut-off is 85-87%, XAT 80-82% and CMAT 90-97%. There is a gamut of factors that impact CMAT cut-off that includes the number of aspirants appearing for the test, seat availability, level of difficulty of the entrance examination, average marks scored on CMAT examination and previous year’s trend.

Shortlisting Criteria

Short listing of candidates for PGDM will be based on XAT, CAT, GMAT, or CMAT score of candidates. Also, other factors such as career achievements, profile (qualification, past academic performance, and work experience), educational qualification and the extracurricular record will also be taken into consideration while shortlisting candidates for Personal Interview Round. Shortlisted candidates who have qualified for achiever’s round will be eligible for scholarships.

Final Admission Criteria

The final selection shall be made on objective and leadership assessment (40% weightage), past academic performance (15% weightage), work experience, if any (10% weightage), performance in face-to-face evaluation (30% weightage), and composite diversity index (5% weightage). This is subject to obtaining desired proficiency in written communication and the minimum score for each evaluation component, except work experience. The objective assessment shall be based on XAT, CAT, GMAT, or CMAT score and the leadership assessment shall be based on Individual Assessment in Group Activity (interaction with peers and evaluators).
