Gujarat Technological University is one of the renowned academic and research institution in India, which has driven new ways of thinking since its 2007 founding, established by the Government of Gujarat vide Gujarat Act No. 20 of 2007. Today, GTU is an intellectual destination that draws inspired scholars to its campus, keeping GTU at the nexus of ideas that challenge and change the world. GTU is a State University with 486 affiliated colleges in its fold operating across the state through its five zones such as Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Rajkot and Surat.
The GTU caters to the fields of Engineering, Architecture, Management, Pharmacy and Computer Science. The varsity has an estimated 4, 00,000 students enrolled in a large number of Diploma, Under Graduate, Post Graduate programs besides the prestigious Doctoral program. The vision of GTU is to transform into a world-class varsity.

GTU has emerged as an Innovative global University in its pursuit of bringing innovation and internationalisation in professional education. Within a short period since its inception, the GTU has achieved several national accolades for its endeavour in delivering excellence in professional education. What is more, the varsity is a pioneer in introducing some innovative learning methodology like “Active Learning”, a classroom created online.
GTU Innovation Council
The GTU Innovation Council is the most active and applauded for its work in the country engaged in training, developing and nurturing the young minds towards an ideology to innovate. The University has the largest International Experience Program in partnership with the universities of US, Canada, China and Germany, which offer a unique opportunity to the students to enhance their capabilities and capacities in a global perspective.
The GTU Research Week, an out of the box concept, is an evaluation process of dissertations of Masters and Doctoral Program students involving experts from the varsities across the world.
Furthermore, the University’s twin programs of Contributor Personality Development Program and the Bridge Course nurture the students with the essential life skills along with the technical knowledge to enable them to develop as an individual and a successful professional in the competitive world. Apart from that its Industrial Training and Placement Cell transforms a knowledge seeker into a sought-after professional.
PG Research Centres
The Post Graduate Research Centres at GTU are actively involved in several national and global research projects. Each year, GTU hosts several national and international conferences to bring together the academicians and industry experts on a single platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practices in their area of work. In addition to that, the GTU has allied with leading industries and associations like Bosch Rexroth, Oracle, IEEE, NSE, BSE, C-DAC, to name a few, with the stated intention of encouraging industry-academia knowledge exchange.
Given GTU’s ideology of innovation and internationalisation, Designing the Structure of Technological Universities (DSTU) is a pet project for reforming technological education pan India and designing the structure of universities in the contemporary times, involving eminent education stakeholders across the nation.
In all its pursuits, the GTU is driven to dig deeper, push further, and ask more significant questions – and to leverage its vast knowledge to enrich all human life.
