IIM Raipur’s students to represent college in 7th Global Investment Banking and Financial Olympiad in London

It is yet again a proud moment for Indian Institute of Management Raipur as four of its Post-Graduate Program students are amongst the top 10 International Teams in the 7th Global Investment Banking, and Financial Olympiad-Corporate Valuation & Financial Modelling Competition-which is going to be held in London in the latter half of this month.

Abhilash Kethipelli Reddy, Akshay Chaturvedi, Bhavya Chhawchharia, Devank Nagelia, all final year PGP students will be travelling to London on 26 October to present and pitch their valuation to the board of Olympiad jury.

Every year, the Olympiad witnesses participation of over 5000 candidates across the globe, where they put their valuation skills to test. The Olympiad is a three-stage competition. Stage one is an hour long Online Business valuation test. Top 20 teams qualifying in Stage 1 will proceed to Stage 2 which consists of a Mergers & Acquisitions case study.

The winning teams must assume they work for a leading UK based mid-market M&A advisory firm and they have merely signed an engagement letter with a client to represent them in finding a suitable buyer for their business. They need to identify a UK based company listed on the London Stock Exchange as a potential client and prepare a presentation. The final round consists of making and presenting a Sell-Side pitch in the form of an Investment Memorandum along with Financial Modelling. The winners will be selected and invited for the award ceremony along with a cash reward of 1000 Euros.

The top 10 teams comprise the likes of other world-business schools like London Business School, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and Warsaw School of Economics. The Olympiad is organised by Global Banking Training, London, in association with GreenSea Capital. Greensea Capital works in the field of energy, agriculture, education and the advanced Industrial sector with expertise in engineering and technical services.

The students are being mentored by Professor Yogesh Chauhan, Assistant Professor, IIM Raipur who provided his continuous guidance and support for the preparation and subsequent stages of the competition.

This is not the first time the team has achieved such a marvellous feat. It has been excelling in numerous national and international eminent competitions and consists of people from diverse backgrounds which include Part-Qualified Actuary, Equity Research Analyst and Bankers.
