Indian Institute of Forest Management offers Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry Management

Indian Institute of Forest Management – All of us love nature. We want our workplaces as close to nature as possible. But in this mechanized life, it is impossible to find such a place of work. At the maximum, we can have some trees around our workplace. But what if there is a course that would help you get a job where you could work with the trees? A job where you work closely with the trees and plants, literally Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry Management (PFM) does exactly that. Admission to the course has started.

PFM course is offered by the Indian Institute of Forest Management, an Autonomous institution under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. IIFM was started in 1982 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh with financial assistance from Swedish International Development Agency. The courses offered by IIFM are assisted by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad to ensure the quality of the course and to make sure they are internationally relevant. The institute was set up with an objective to fulfil the growing need for management resources in the forest and wildlife discipline.

For admission to the course, the candidate must have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline from any recognized college or university in the country. The candidate should have scored a minimum of 45% marks for SC, ST communities and physically challenged and 50% marks for others. Candidates who will be appearing for their final examination and those who have completed their examination and awaiting results can also apply provided that they should submit a certificate from the Principal / Registrar of the institute stating that all the above criteria have been fulfilled by the candidate.

Being a management course, the eligibility is decided by the score obtained in either CAT conducted by the IIMs or XAT conducted by XLRI. Every candidate who applies for the course must have a CAT or XAT score. It is used for the first level selection of the candidates. Further admission process will contain a group discussion and personal interview. The admission to the course will be based on the student’s performance in Group discussion and Personal Interview along with the CAT or XAT score.

Both IIMs and XLRI do not have any role in the admission process other than conducting the admission exams. Apart from writing the CAT or XAT exam, candidates must also apply for the IIFM admissions. This can be done online on the website of IIFM. There is an application of Rs.1000 which can be paid online or taking a demand draft and sending it to IIFM along with the filled application form.

 

Apply to IIFM

  • Online through http://192.163.202.106/~iifmac/ and remit the fee through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking.
  • Download the application form from IIFM’s website and send filled-in-form with the requisite fee.
  • Obtain admission bulletin and the application form personally or by post by sending a Demand Draft of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500 for SC/ST) in favour of Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal.

Application complete in all respects must reach IIFM Bhopal on or before:  For CAT & XAT applicants: 20th February 2019

WAT and PI

Written aptitude test (WAT) and personal interviews (PI) for short-listed candidates will be held at BHOPAL, BANGALORE, NEW DELHI, KOLKATA, GUWAHATI & KOCHI during March/April 2019.

IIFM follows the central government guidelines on the community-based reservation. Seats are reserved for the SC, ST communities and Non Creamy layer of the OBC community.
