JAM 2019 ISC and IITs Joint Admission Test for MSc

JAM 2019 – It is the time of the year when students prepare for their next course of life. With all the entrance examinations around the corner, it is going to be a busy time if you are a student looking for either an undergraduate course to start your career with or a postgraduate course for specializations. With the whole education industry moving towards a consolidation where there would be only one admission test per discipline, students are facing reduced burden every year. JAM 2019 is one such exam for the admission into Master of Science (M.Sc.) and the dual degree and joint M.Sc. – PhD courses. The exam is conducted by the IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) on a rotational basis.

The 2019 edition of JAM will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur on February 10, 2019. The general eligibility criterion for JAM 2019 is that the candidate should have completed an undergraduate course in the relevant discipline. However, there are separate minimum educational requirements for the different courses that will be admitted based on the JAM examination. To view the complete list, of course, specific entry requirements please refer to the website of JAM organizing institute. In any discipline candidates who are appearing for their final examination of the qualifying exam can also apply for JAM provided that the required eligibility will be submitted by October 12, 2018. There is no age limitation for JAM provided you fulfil all the qualification criteria.

The application form is now available for the candidates in the website of JAM. Both the application and the examination are completely online. Candidates have time until October 12, 2018, to complete the online application and submit the documents. Admit cards with the exam centre details will be issued in the month of January following which the examinations will be conducted as 2 sessions on February 10, 2018.

The exam is split into two sessions. Morning session has papers for Biotechnology, Geology, Chemistry and Mathematical Statistics. Afternoon session subjects include Biology, Mathematics, and Physics. A student can also appear for two papers selecting one from each session. Results of the examination will be declared on March 20, 2019. Candidates will then have to submit their application for admission under the JAM exam during the month of April.

After the document scrutinization admission list will be issued by the JAM organizing institute for the courses in the participating institutions. JAM follows the community-based reservation system as prescribed by the central government and will issue separate admission lists for SC, ST, the non-creamy layer of the OBC and candidates with physical disability. It is important to note that the application process is completely online and there is no other mode of applying for the exam. Examination fee can be paid online or through an E-challan in the State Bank of India.
