Karnataka CET 2019 examination begins today

As many as 1, 94,311 students are appearing for the Karnataka Examination Authority conducted Common Entrance Test (CET) – 2019 to be held today at 431 examination centres across the state, as per TOI report. While only smart watches were banned earlier in CET examination halls, this time the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has said that all kinds of wrist watches are banned this time round. The KEA said that 97,716 boys and 96,585 girls female will be appearing this year in CET that is the gateway for admission to engineering and other professional under graduate courses.

The examination will be held at 84 examination centres in CET. An estimated 28,245 officials have been deployed for exams and the district treasuries where question papers have reached are under tight security. The Questions and Answers in each subject question paper will be printed both in English and Kannada Language. In case of any discrepancies in the English and Kannada Versions, the English version will be taken as final. According to KEA, students are also not supposed to carry more than two or three pens. They are only supposed to use either black or blue ball pens.

While 66.58% students in II PUC science stream passed this year, the department has urged failed students to appear to CET exams as they would be allowed for counselling if they clear the supplementary examinations. The II PUC supplementary exams will be held between June 7 and June 18. This is the first time that the state government announced II PUC results before CET examinations.

KEA in its circular has mentioned that Chemistry exams will be held between 2.30 am-3.50am. The officials confirmed that it was an error and the exams will be held between 2.30pm-3.50 pm, noted the report.

Information for CET appearing students

  • Use of any type of calculator or log table etc is prohibited
  • There are no negative marks for incorrect answers
  • Candidates will not be allowed to carry any Modern Electronic Equipment, Gadgets, Pagers, Mobile Phones, Bluetooth, Markers, White Fluid, Calculator, Wireless sets, bits of paper, books / note etc. into the Examination Hall
  • The candidate (s) found in possession of any of these items in the examination hall will be treated as unfair means and his / her result will not be declared. There will not be any counter at the examination hall to keep above items
  • The candidates are not allowed to wear / carry any type of wrist watch in the examination hall / room. Candidates are informed to check the Bell Timings for Caution Bells at different intervals
  • Along with the CET-2019 Admission Ticket candidate has to carry any one valid Photo Identity Card like Passport / Aadhar Card / PAN Card / College Identity Card / 2nd PU / 12th Std Examination Admission Ticket / Bus Pass / Driving License
  • Any candidate writes / shades anything other than the required entries on the OMR Answer Sheet, which may result in disclosing the candidate identity, or use of abusive language or employ any other unfair means, such as change of marking answers by scratching or using white fluid, such candidates are liable for disqualification
  • The candidate should use only Blue or black ink ball point pens
  • The candidate should not carry more than two / three ball point pens (Blue/Black) with them to the examination hall and also they should not carry pencil with them to the examination hall
  • The Questions and Answers in each subject question paper will be printed both in English and Kannada Language. In case of any discrepancy in the English and Kannada Versions, the English version will be taken as final
