Last date for online application of BITS Pilani HD Programs 2019 is April 30

BITS Pilani HD Programs 2019 – The last date for submitting an online application of Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences Higher Degree (BITS HD) Programs at Pilani is on April 30. The Institute has announced its admissions for 2019-20 to its HD Programs such as ME/MPharm and MPhil to be offered across its three campuses in Pilan, Goa and Hyderabad.

Admission Criteria

  • Candidates are admitted based on marks obtained in the HD score held by BITS Pilani
  • Also, admissions to these programs are offered to candidates based on GATE/GPAT scores
  • The Institute is rolling out two new programs this year such as ME Degree in Sanitation Science, Technology and Management and MPhil Degree in Liberal Studies
  • The HD Program structure also envisages flexibility catering to students passionate about a career in industry or pursuing research
  • The students who are enrolled are eligible for financial assistance through stipend/waiver


  • Minimum of 60% for ME/MPharm and 55% for MPhil in the qualifying degree examination

Admission Procedure

  • Admission to all ME courses, other than software systems and MPharm Programs will be based on the marks obtained in the BITS HD Admission Test or based on GATE/GPAT score
  • Admission to ME in Software Systems is through BITS HD Test only
  • For MPhil Program, those shortlisted candidates will be invited for a test and interview

Candidates need to opt for one of the following

  • Consideration for admission only on the basis of GATE/GPAT score (Scores of GATE 2019 or GATE 2018 or GATE 2017 will be only considered to admissions to M.E. programs
  •  Scores of GPAT 2019 or GPAT 2018 or GPAT 2017 will only be considered to admissions to M.Pharm programs)
  •  Candidates must, however, ensure that their GATE/GPAT scores are valid to be considered for admission
  •  This validity as mentioned on the GATE / GPAT scorecard must be mentioned in the application form
  • Consideration for admission only on the basis of marks obtained in the BITS HD online test
  • Consideration for admission based on the basis of both GATE/GPAT score and marks obtained in the BITS HD online test

Financial Assistance

  • Candidates admitted through GATE / GPAT will be eligible for a tuition fee waiver of Rs. 13,400 per month over and above the GATE / GPAT scholarship that they will receive
  •  All other students admitted to the HD programme will be eligible for a stipend of Rs. 13,400 per month.
  • The fee waiver/stipend will be in lieu of 6 – 8 hours of work per week

How to apply

  • Interested and eligible candidates should apply through the prescribed application form available online
  • A hard copy of application form is not required to be sent
  • Candidates are advised to take a printout of the filled-in form and keep a copy with them for further reference
