Master of Public Health at AIIMS, Jodhpur

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur is one of the six AIIMS institutes set up in India in the year 2012. It is operated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the Government of India. School of Public Health at AIIMS – Jodhpur provides Undergraduate and postgraduate education in the Public health space.

State of Public Health in India

India had done a tremendous job in eliminating public health hazards like Guinea worm, Maternal, and Neonatal Tetanus and on the verge of removing many more of them. But the public health in India is still evolving and has a long way to go to reach the global standards prescribed by the International agencies. With new health issues cropping up daily, the question of public health is continually evolving in finding problems for those outbreaks. School of Public Health in AIIMS – Jodhpur was started with the aim of improving the public health standards in the state, country and the entire world.

Master of Public Health

 Master of Public health is a multidisciplinary program to jointly identify public health issues and resolve them effectively and efficiently. The objective of the program is to train the professionals who are already in the healthcare industry to be prepared for the public health hazards and with the help of their multidisciplinary knowledge identify potential solutions to major health problems.

Seats Available

Master of Public Health course has an available intake of 15 students per year which is further divided into three different classifications.

  • Medical – This category is for medical students who have completed their MBBS / BDS or the AYUSH (Alternative System of Medicine in India) degree recognised by the University Grants Commission of India.
  • Non-Medical – This category is for students who are from non-medical backgrounds. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Veterinary Sciences, Engineering (B.E or B.Tech). Master’s degree (M.A. / M.Sc.) or any other Science degree. A course having fields related to medical like Biotechnology will be an added advantage.
  • Sponsored – Sponsored category is for professionals already working with the government medical colleges and other related institutions with more than three years of experience. In this case, the degree shall be sponsored by the Institution.

Admissions & Fees

The admissions for this course will happen on a merit basis through a national level entrance examination conducted by the institution. Admission for all three categories will be based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination. The course would cost rupees 1 lakh and 40 thousand throughout two years payable on the Semester basis. For foreign nationals, the course fees would be USD 3000. For sponsored categories, the institution which sponsors the individual should bear the total costs.
