New association with Shivaji University by SPJIMR
It has come as a great surprise in the education sector when the SP Jain Institute for Management and Research (SPJIMR) and Shivaji University have agreed to a public-private partnership (PPP). Ultimately, this is an unprecedented partnership. The leading B-schools signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) very recently.
Insights of the association
On select social initiatives of the Maharashtra government that are relevant to regions around Kolhapur which is an integral part of the MoU, SPJIMR will work with Shivaji University in areas like faculty development, case writing, research, curriculum development.
“This MoU sets a new benchmark of public-private partnership that can enhance learning and open up new opportunities for development of faculty and students,” State Minister for Higher & Technical Education Vinod Tawde said in a release.
The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Shivaji University, Dr Devanand Shinde, said it was a welcome pact that will be “useful in internal capacity building”- something that will, in turn, help the institute takes benefits to the society.
Dean Dr Ranjan Banerjee of SPJIMR said: “The hunger for quality education is even higher in tier-two and tier-three towns and it is a market in which we can make a difference to benefit society. It carries a larger social purpose we can serve. We will learn a lot from the experience.”
To help build SPJIMR’s two-pronged mission of influencing practice and promoting value-based growth, the MoU should take care of the whole responsibility.
