SDMIMD receives EPAS International Accreditation from EFMB for PGDM
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore has received the coveted EPAS International Accreditation from the global accreditation body, European Federation for Management Development (EFMD), its program accreditation system for the Institute’s flagship program, Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). Thanks to the quality of management education and internationalisation, the SDMIMD has received this international accreditation, the first Indian Business School to receive EPAS Accreditation. Besides that, the program had also received international certification from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) from the US.
As the SDMIMD is continuously receiving global accreditations, nevertheless it has constantly been working on improving internationalisation of the program, laying more emphasis on research besides reaching out to corporates for programs as well as consultancy. Over the last few years, a slew of customised programs has been introduced for the firms besides a gamut of open Management Development Programs.
Apart from that, another unique feature of interest to the corporate sector is the initiation of Applied Research Projects by SDMIMD’s faculty in conjunction with the students and studying data which are humongous in content and character and further paved the way for more focused research of interest to firms. What is more, the international accreditations, EFMD-EPAS has not only given a quality stamp to the SDMIMD’s flagship program – PGDM – but also has opened new vistas for international placement opportunities for its students.
The Institute has also forged an alliance with Highered EFMD for enabling students to take part in global placement processes initiated by Highered. The Institute has a meticulous record regarding its 100% placement performance, and all efforts are on to work on broad basing the type of firms coming to campus as well as increasing the average pay.
The Institute has allied with international management institutes of repute to conduct Exchange Programs for appreciation of management from a global perspective. Furthermore, the faculty and students from both the collaborative institutions have an opportunity of taking part in foreign exchange programs every year.
The SDMIMD Mysore has forged alliance with overseas varsities for academic collaboration such as Texas A&M University, USA; Shanghai University, China; University of Bordeaux, France; ESC Pau, France; University of Montevideo, Uruguay; Abu Dhabi University, UAE; British University in Dubai; Heilbronn University, Germany; Universidad Ean, Colombia, Suramerica; National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan; Universidad Sergio Arboleda, Colombia; Business Analytics Institute, Europe & EAE Business School, Spain.
At the SMIMD Mysore, in the second year, students can opt to specialise in the areas of Marketing, Systems, Finance, Operations, or Human Resource Management. Students have the option of dual specialisation. They can also decide to be a generalist and not specialise in any area and instead opt for courses from various streams to make up the required minimum credits. The PGDM program is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The program has MBA Equivalence by Association of Indian Universities.
Towards the end of the first year, students are sent to “Socially Relevant Projects’ to enable them to study first-hand the working of these not-for-profit organisations and suggest improvements in their style of functioning. This project, besides sensitising the students to social realities it further helps in making them rounded individuals. In addition to that, the Institute also has courses in Ethics and Values in Management and Sustainability.
Last, but not least, the SDMIMD is one of the very few institutions in India to host three international conferences every year. These conferences attract a large number of academics from various parts of the country. These events are co-organised by the students giving them exposure to actual management of such activities. Besides these, the Institute has around 40 guest lectures by corporate experts, academics and social economists on various aspects of particular significance to the student community.
