Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHM), Chennai
was established in 1963, jointly sponsored by the government of Tamil Nadu and the Govt. of India. The Institute has provided high quality courses in Hotel & Catering for over 50 years and has excellent links with the industry and has made a name at global and national level providing personnel for the industry both at Home and abroad. It is affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Noida & Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.
The vision of the institute is to train students at International Standards of Hospitality Education imparting Knowledge, Skill and Attitude for providing suitable manpower in hospitality and service industry. Provide opportunities for Research and field work in Hospitality and Tourism. The aim of the institute is to improve the standards of Hospitality Education keeping pace with the Human Resource requirements of the Hospitality industry under the guidance of Ministry of Tourism.

This Institute is situated in the Central Institutes of Technology (CIT Campus) in between MGR Film Institute and Hindustan Unilever Ltd (Bakery Unit) (formerly Modern Food Industries) on the Tidel Park Road (next to Madhya Kailash Temple) (very close to Adyar). This Institute is about 12 kms from Chennai Central Railway Station, 10 Kms from Chennai Egmore Railway Station, 14 kms from Chennai Meenambakkam Airport and 15 kms from Koyambedu Mofussil Bus Terminus.
