INSTITUTE OF RURAL MANAGEMENT is located at Anand, Gujarat, India. The institute was founded in the year 1979. The institute was established by the Government of India as well as Government of Gujarat along with the erstwhile Indian Dairy Corporation and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), with the assistance of the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC). Over the years it has evolved to be one of the best institution in the country in providing RURAL MANAGEMENT.
The agenda and motive behind the establishment of the institute was to provide training, research, management education and consultancy support to co-operatives and rural development organizations in India. The genesis of IRMA is owed to Dr. Kurien’s work with dairy co-operatives. It lead to the vigorous transformation of the dairy industry in the country. The institute spins with a vision to provide quality professional management which will result in or act as a key factor to effective rural development. It involves synergizing specific yet unmet requirements of the rural sector with the formal techniques and skills of management professionals. Linking the two factors successfully, IRMA offers a two year diploma (PRM) programme in rural management rural managers.
Initially, born out of the idea of maverick, today IRMA function in a full fledge to professionalize the development of India’s rural sector.
