Higher School of Economics University is one of Russia’s most significant universities. It is a renowned economics and social sciences university often ranked as the number one university in the Eastern Europe and Eurasian region. Its presence though just for over two decades has contributed significantly toward achieving academic excellence and some outstanding research endeavors.
Structural reforms have been made in HSE with the sole aim of breaking geographical barriers and to exhibit an international presence.HSE has 4 campuses each at Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm.HSE caters to a variety of student needs ranging from secondary school to doctoral studies.
The 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project is a government programme with the motive of amplifying competitiveness of Russian Universities. HSE has been a member of this initiative since 2013.It has over 7000 lecturers and researchers, 40300 students and 72400 graduates.
The university mascot is the crow since 1996 which was originally designed by Anna Arenstein .HSE souvenirs also contain the image of the university mascot. It is also often spotted on the roads of the localities where the 4 campuses are situated. Since 2013 HSE has been having themed graduation parties in and around Moscow. The HSE day which was celebrated for the first time in September 2012 to mark its 20th anniversary has now become a local Moscow tradition.
The HSE alumni awards are being given out since 2007 and all members of the HSE family namely the students, faculty and alumni can vote on the HSE family website. The HSE Gold Honor award and Honor Award 1st and 2nd class is presented to the outstanding faculty.
