Punjab engineering college was established in the year 1921 at Lahore. It was known as Mugalpura Engineering College. And its present campus was moved in the year 1953 and was called as Punjab engineering college. It was affiliated to the Punjab University. During the year 2003, it became deemed university through the notification of MHRD and during the year 2009 it was renamed as PEC University of technology. It has 146 acres and a big campus which are the house of Chandigarh College of architecture too. The process of administration and the academic are like IITs in other countries.
Punjab Engineering College offers 8 UG in B. Tech Programs and 14 Postgraduate in M.Tech Programs in different departments of engineering and the technology. After the deemed university it also offers PhDs in Engineering, science, humanities, social science and the management. The procedures of the UG and PG admissions are only through the national level Examination which is respective of JEE and the GATE. Totally there are 9 academic departments’ and 2 centers for excellence.
Punjab engineering college collaborates closely with organizations of the research, alumni, academic institutions, and the industries with the both abroad and India. The institutions have pursued in joint research in niche areas by signing with MoUs. The PEC University of Technology has made more alumni students who helped to get the name for the institution.
